Mic 2 Mac · Version 3.1.1

Privacy

Your voice and transcript history are private by design and stay under your control.

Microphone and transcription

Mic 2 Mac accesses the microphone only during an active dictation. Audio remains in memory and transcription runs locally through the verified large-v3-turbo-q5_0 model. Microphone audio is not intentionally written to disk, uploaded, or included in diagnostics. Only the verified local result can be saved and pasted as a completed dictation.

Transcript storage

History, snippets, diagnostics, and the downloaded model stay on your Mac inside ~/Library/Application Support/Mic 2 Mac/. Mic 2 Mac does not upload transcript contents or save incomplete dictation as a completed result.

Keyboard access

Accessibility permission lets Mic 2 Mac detect its configured recording key and paste the completed transcript into the application you were using. Mic 2 Mac does not store ordinary typing or unrelated key events.

Network behavior

On first launch, Mic 2 Mac downloads a 547 MiB speech model from the whisper.cpp repository on Hugging Face over HTTPS, then verifies its exact byte count and SHA-256 before loading it. The model contains no customer audio or transcripts. Permanent-license activation sends the entered license key and the generic instance name “Mic 2 Mac” to Lemon Squeezy over HTTPS. It never includes microphone audio or transcript text. The full license key is not persisted by Mic 2 Mac. After the model is installed and activation succeeds, dictation and History work offline.

Analytics and advertising

Version 3.1.1 contains no advertising, behavior analytics, cloud transcription, transcript upload, or developer-operated account service.

Delete local data

Removing the app does not remove History. Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Mic 2 Mac/ to permanently erase local History, checkpoints, snippets, diagnostics, and the downloaded model, unless a backup exists.

Effective August 23, 2026.
